I was working til like 2:30AM last night on the forum. I had been doing little bits throughout the day, heating up later into the night, when I'm more comfortably productive. (I have terrible sleeping habits).
Here is a Summary:
* Figured out sidebar, and how to implement the shoutbox into it so it keeps people looking at the board. Before this, I was trying to squeeze it above the boards via the wrapper (whatever that means) to amateur results. When I first installed it, it looked all squished and unreadable with a double "Shoutbox" heading, and was about to get rid of it when I realized that I could edit the width and the casing and all that
Came out really nice
* I also redid the banner / icon overlay, trying to get both the text logo and the image logo into the fold, since they're both important in regards to branding. As an ode to ha55ii, I opted for a clunky but aesthetically interesting title, similar to some of the titles / links you'd find on FC2, 2channel, Dan-Ball, and other Japanese websites. I've always gotten a very cozy feeling from them, and I'd like to replicate that here
The fish scale pattern I made a while back wasn't doing anything, so I figured I should try it. It fits very well! I also chose the colors of the forum to feel really warm and earthy, like a tatami room
* I also redid a bunch of icons and reset stars to default. I had replaced them with a rounded vector star, but it just looked flat and boring, so I'll wrestle them soon. Maybe I'll get rid of the star system and use fun little animals or something
* I edited more parts of the forum, including boxes, the color sheme, line widths, added / designed the calendar, and I messed around with different plugins. I edited the News bar as well as the different boards
* Lastly, I also made and implemented a little noise for whenever you type into the shoutbox. The plugin allows you to toggle this on or off, though there is a volume bar option. I just didn't use it, because it was ugly. I added a "hide" functionality to the shoutbox too
That's all for now.
